I am an Irish-Iranian artist and have recently moved from Ireland to UK. I am known as a multi-media artist, practiced in fine art for more than ten years in various methods such as drawing, painting, monoprint, installation and video-arts. I have MA in History of Art and Architecture, and have carried out art research on Persian, Islamic and Renaissance arts, specifically in painting and drawing as my main art medium. Inspirations in my artworks usually emerge out of my multi-national identity, mixed culture, immigration experiences and childhood memories from Iran.

Jane Charles Smallbeans

With a degree in Fashion and Textiles I’ve been concentrating on Creative Textiles for the last 7 years. Primarily I dye fabric, print and machine embroider small art quilts. I also incorporate found vintage papers when I feel inspired. Teaching for (CLMK) Adult Education and working in schools on large-scale textile projects keeps me busy. Four times a year I run creative relaxing days at the MK Quaker Centre called – Make Me Relax.

I work in both illustration and comics. I have worked for various local clients and businesses and have my own published webcomic; My Best Friend is Blue.

Chaitra Channappa

Currently spending most of the time teaching Art and Design to Kids and adults alike, during spare time Chaitra likes experimenting with different media to create Artworks. She has been teaching Art and Design for nearly two years now and likes the interaction and learning that comes with it. After recently completing a course she is now testing new waters of Graphic design too! All in all, Chaitra’s career transition from being a QC Microbiologist to an Artist/Art teacher has been worthwhile for Art has no boundaries for creative minds.

Nicola Saunderson Nicola Saunderson

I make drawings that document locations at the edge of our urban environment, places such as underpasses and other roadside spaces that tend to simply be passed through. Piecing together an experience of place or places that are come across whilst walking.

Drawings that sometimes have one viewpoint but that can also combine multiple viewpoints or fragments of a place together in a piece. The point where one image ends, and another begins attempting to echo the process of reconstructing in the mind the experience taken of a location, playing over architectural components, the structure of the space that is described, traces of neglect, wear over time, and the activity that these spaces invites. Visualising through playing with composition to recreate something of the physical experience taken of these spaces.

I have a particular fascination with light and reflection and the technical demands these offer. Whilst highly reflective surfaces create static images which can be immediately captured even exhibiting several levels of reflection, water and liquid surfaces generate an incredible source of transient images which mesmerize and are difficult to translate into work. Recently the constant movement of the sea has caught my interest and the combination of movement and transparency is the area of challenge I love most. My reflective works “New Street Square Reflections”, “Regents Park road” and the Algarve seascapes illustrate my interest.

Another fascination is mixed media marbling and watercolour. Marbling creates abstract grounds onto which other mediums can be applied and I use these to create landscape works of different moods. Application of salt creates texture, depth and helps atmospheric effect. It is random and unrepeatable in nature.

By contrast my recent oil works are textural impasto pieces which in themselves create shadow and light reflection through the paint relief, helping the portrayal of the floral subject.

My constant mediums remain watercolour, and oil which bring me great pleasure but I am also happy to use ink and acrylic. I am excited at discovering new mediums and I am encouraged and motivated by local artist workshops through Mk Art Centre or local studios. I practice at my central MK studio with Art Central, MK Arts Gateway.

Sheree Murray Cute Maps

Sheree Murray has been illustrating personal, quirky maps for events, gifts and stationery since 2010. As well as valuing her recognition within the wedding industry to which her style fits very appropriately, Sheree also works with corporates and small business on map commissions and dedicates herself to local projects- her ‘Milton Keynes Cute Map’ grew into an MK gift collection and a relationship with MK Council developing their arts and culture map.

Lewis Allonby The Aspie Creative

I am The Aspie Creative and I specialise in textiles.
I currently make and sell tote bags that I have made myself and masks that I have decorated. I am also delving into creative notebooks out of old books from charity shops.
